GRAVITY CASTING

Megastra Jaya has been a specialist in gravity casting since commencing in Malaysia. The range of gravity work, both static and tilt, covers large heat treated (T5) castings through to small pure aluminium electrical castings.

PRESSURE CASTING

We currently have 3 high pressure die casting machines to supply aluminium castings in the range of 100t – 350t (aluminium). As well as casting we also have finishing processes such as vibratory polishing.

MACHINING

Inhouse CNC machining centres & lathes along with other conventional machinery.  We are also able to help design and fabricate moulds upon customer requirements

OTHER SERVICES

Powder coating, anodizing & plating services avaiable.  We strive to simplify the purchasing for customers by adding on other services which contribute to a finished product that can be sent straight to the customer.

GRAVITY CASTING

Megastra Jaya has been a specialist in gravity casting since commencing in Malaysia.

Megastra Jaya has been a specialist in gravity casting since commencing in Malaysia.Among the many gravity presses both large and small is the Stahl tilt machine capable of taking dies up to 1300mm x 900mm. This machine is ideal for casting long drop castings as well as those castings where air entrapment is a problem.Work done on this machine includes among other things, door panels, large fan blades and transmission housings. In the tilt casting process the casting machine is tilted to a position where the joint line of the mould is horizontal (The whole mould is laying horizontal) Metal is tipped into a “pouring bucket”, which pours into the runner system of the casting, and then the die is tilted 108 degrees to a position where the die is upright.

This movement through 108 degrees is done at a controlled rate, depending on the particular job,so the metal enters the casting cavity gently and with minimum air entrapment resulting in a clean casting surface and no gas porosity. As well as this, since the casting is bottom filled the resultant progressive solidification eliminates shrinkage porosity in the casting.  Although not suitable for all types of casting, it is certainly the best method for parts where surface finish and integrity are critical. The range of gravity work, both static and tilt, covers large heat treated (T5) castings through to small pure aluminium electrical castings.

All aluminium ingot is purchased from ISO9002 registered suppliers and supplied with assay reports.  As with the pressure castings. Megastra has the facilities to supply parts machined, powder coated and/or anodized.

PRESSURE CASTING

Pressure die casting is used where there is a need for a large number of dimensionally accurate, thin walled castings with an excellent surface finish.  Pressure casting involves using force to “squirt” the aluminium into a design giving it higher accuracy. Repeatability, stability and speed are also added advantages as the hot die steel moulds are water cooled and hardened.

Typical pressure castings are compressor castings (conrods, heads, etc), fan blades & hubs and automotive parts (endcaps, brackets, housings, etc)  These are but a few of the castings possible in pressure die-casting.

At Megastra we currently have 3 high pressure die casting machines to supply aluminium castings in the range of 100t – 350t (aluminium). As well as casting we also have finishing processes such as vibratory polishing, machining, powder coating and anodizing.

All ingot aluminium used in the production of castings at Megastra is supplied by ISO9002 registered suppliers and arrives with a chemical assay.

OTHER SERVICES

Megastra Jaya simplifies the purchasing for customers by adding on other services which contribute to a finished product that can be sent straight to the customer. We also can warehouse products in Australia in either of our 2 warehouses located in Queensland and New South Wales. Below are some of the extra’s we can provide :

POWDER COATING

This is a common painting process using powder to “attach” to an opposite charged part. This powder then forms a smooth layer after it’s baked in an oven. Parts that are powder coated have good all round weather resistance and surface protection. Megastra powder coats around 50% of all out parts.

HEAT TREATMENT

Megastra has it’s own heat treatment oven for T5 artificial aging. This process stabilizes the casting dimensions prior to machining, a process that can take weeks naturally can be done in a space of 8 hours.

ANODIZING

Along with powder coating anodizing is a common post casting treatment which gives the casting better resistance to the environment as well as giving it a harder surface. At Megastra we anodize around 25% of all our parts.

SHIPPING

An often overlooked part of the manufacturing cycle but one that can create the most delays. MJSB exports 80% of all of our products and are well versed in sending parts internationally.
We have a dedicated export team and ensure that all packing is suitable for sea/air freight. Further we can store products if the customer is based in Australia in our warehouse to have a 100% guaranteed stock availability.
